I'd heard so much about this "Oscar worthy" drama entitled, "The Green Mile." Immediately, I thought, well if it includes Tom Hanks, perhaps it's worth the cost of at least a *matinee* ticket! But, in the meanwhile, a number of other higher rated movies were released, which unfortunately pushed it further and further down on my list of "must see(s)".
Finally, tired of discouraging an indepth discussion of the movie amongst my movie-going friends, I decided to take the plung, paying "full price," I might add. I went to see *The Green Mile.* Was I ever in for a treat!!!! True to Tom Hanks acting abilities, I became immensed in the plot immediately! Imagine, a movie that apparently releases the "seeming" plot within the first five minutes of the film. Imagine, being WRONG, again and again and again! The story was the result of a mastermind, a writer, I've not over indulged myself in in the past, but surprisingly became devoid of any and all prior prejudices of Mr. Steven King.
In spite of the fact that the movie takes place in a prison, I wasn't sure if I wanted to walk down the Prison Mile, after having fallen in love with Shawshake Redemption. I began to walk, rather shall I say "fall and run" down the last few feet of the Green Mile. This movie draws, draws?, no snatches the viewer into each Scene and Act, by forcing one to draw seeming logical conclusions, only to be taken into a mythological mental state of let's say for the record: "The Others!"
Having said (and meant all of the above) would I recommend seeing this movie to others? A resounding YES,YES YES!!!!!
*WARNING* Get your popcorn early, because you won't want to miss a snippit of the movie.
