I have to mildly disagree with Brian about the performances by the main characters. I think that the stand-out performer of the film was Michael Caine as Dr. Larch -- once again he shines!
As for Tobey Maguire and Charlize Theron -- I found their performance together to be only mediocre (their relationship seemed insincere and unbelievable). Perhaps it was the characters they were portraying or just bad casting. But anyhow, the only reason why I would expect to see more of Charlize Theron in the feature is because of her exceptional beauty, not her portrayal of a young woman left alone during WWII.
