If you are a Forrest Whittaker fan this movie will not disappoint you. He adds a realism to each part that he plays and his role in this movie is no exception. As an African American I try to support movies that portray us in a positive light. Yes this movie did have its share of stereotypes about how young black teens act but in general the movie showed intelligent young people who are simply trying to make a difference. The movie does a very good job of balancing the overall story line with the struggles that each character is going through individually. I also liked this movie because it dealt with issues that are not far from reality. Yes, it may seem like students taking over a school is something that couldn't happen, but you never know. The students in the movie had the same concerns that many students are facing in schools all across the country. I believe that this movie would be best enjoyed by those between the ages of 18-25, however, I would recommend it to anyone who likes stories that deal with real life issues.
