If you like gratuitous SEX in a movie,...if you crave lots VIOLENCE,...if you like listening to all kinds of PROFANITY in a flick,...FORGET IT. Go see some of the trash down the street. This movie is not for you. However, this movie is great for kids and adults of all ages. I was moved by the kids in this movie, because they remind me of many of the boys and girls I grew up with. Most kids are average kids, and not the glamorous type that we see on many of the TV sitcoms. In addition, real kids have flaws that they desperately try to overcome. This movie has those types of characters, and doesn't try to make everyone perfect. So,... who can resist a movie about a boy, his dog, and the misadventures they fall into ??? The movie has overtones of "Tom Sawyer", "Stand by Me", "The Sandlot", "Summer of 42", and many other movies & books with which we can readily identify with the characters. The movie has its funny moments & scenes. However, if you are looking for a hardy joke & laugh a minute going a 100 miles an hour, it's not there. If you want that, go watch Jerry Seinfeld. More appropriately, bring some tissues for your spouse or best girlfriend, and maybe a few for yourself. The emotional scenes are very real, and may make you think about some of the same trials you had. The same can be said for the humorous moments. Overall, all of the characters, whether kid or adult, are believable. This show is not Oscar material, but if you want a great couple of hours that will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you feel good about life,... GO SEE IT !!!
