I was in LA last week with a couple of female developers attending a training program. After class, we had nothing better to do..so we headed off to watch a movie..and what could be better than a chic-flick.
Aah finally a movie without explosions and technology floods.
You sit through two and a half hours of astonishment, watching a sexy fashionable bold woman who could have gone great guns with her (once beauty queen) career but unfortunately is boggled down to raising three small kids and coping with unemployment all at once. But see thats not even the plot.
Julia Roberts plays "Erin Brokovich", the single mom who strived hard against a bureaucratic giant corporation to unfold the mystery of several horrifying health problems and win the victims their rights in a dingy California town.
What was once only in California's newspapers is now flashed country-wide.
I wonder how many people terminated their PG&E accounts after watching the movie.
A few down sides..I wish Julia would watch her clothes as much as she watched her dialogue delivery, I almost thought she reused her "Pretty Woman" wardrobe).
I couldnt figure out how the guy at the Hinkley power station front-desk could be so idiotic..he was delarious all the time..was it her breasts ? If you can, do let me know..
But yet I cant think of a solid reason why you dont want to see this movie. First off its based on a true story. Secondly, the movie rests on the sexy shoulders of Ms. Roberts, who does a mighty fine job. Thirdly the dialogues are just mind blowing. Watch out for the scene when George asks Erin out and Erin's spontaneous speeches without batting an eyelid . And last but not the least, not once through the movie would you get distracted. The movie flows like sparkling stream water. Nothing impresses me more than a woman winning a struggle.
I walked out that theatre thinking "Go Girl"..
