bilbopooh's Full Review: VeggieTales - The End of Silliness?
This was the coveted video to complete my Veggie Tales collection. Until the new video comes out, of course. Like the first Veggie Tales Singalong video, it incorporates songs from previous videos. But unlike the first, it is held together by an intriguing storyline. Anyone familiar with Veggie Tales knows and loves Silly Songs with Larry, "the part of the show where Larry comes out and sings a silly song." But now, thanks to a silly song gone awry, Larry's days of casting his silliness across the television screen appear to be over.
In Josh and the Big Wall, Larry presents the promising Song of the Cebu. Unfortunately, the end of the song gets lost in the shuffle and Archibald Asparagus declares it an unqualified disaster. In Madame Blueberry, he cuts off Larry's Silly Song with an announcement that "Silly Songs has been cancelled until further notice."
Distraught, Larry drowns his sorrows in Jimmy's ice cream shoppe. As the scene opens, it bears a great resemblance to the painting Nighthawks. Larry, too upset to speak at length, instructs Jimmy to punch in G7 on the jukebox -- the fateful Song of the Cebu. Having now gained some insight into the cucumber's sorrow, Jimmy plays a wide selection of some of his favorite songs in an attempt to cheer him up. But the cucumber is not to be consoled.
After Larry breaks down one time too many, Archibald, who inauspiciously entered the shop moments before with a lady friend, rises to take the blame for Larry's destitution. Larry is overcome with horror when he sees his adversary, and they engage in a true "face-off." The asparagus then proceeds to play the dreaded Love Song with Mr. Lunt, His Cheeseburger.
Will Larry be able to forgive Archibald for taking away his Silly Songs? Will Archie find it in his heart to give them back? Where is Moose Lake, anyway? And will we ever find out who that female asparagus is? Watch this delightful video to find the answers to some of these questions and the inspiration to ponder others. And keep an eye out to see the next trick Larry has up his sleeve!
