I rented this movie because I'd read about how it was made - a lot of the dialogue supposedly was not scripted but improvised. I thought it'd be something different and unique and it was! Wow - what a great movie. This film looks at the phenomenon of upper class white kids in NYC that are fascinated with hip hop culture. There are a lot of separate stories that culminate into one story but the central story is that of a documentarian following around a group of white high schoolers who are trying to live a stereotypical black lifestyle. There is a lot of sex, drugs, and violence but none of it is superfluous - it all plays into the story. Tons of well-known actors, rappers and athletes have roles and/or cameos - Brooke Shields, Robert Downey Jr., Method Man, Marla Maples, Elijah Wood, Bijou Phillips, Claudia Schiffer, Mike Tyson, Ben Stiller, Allan Houston, Gaby Hoffman, Jared Leto . . . . the list goes on and on. Stories include friendships, betrayals, casual sex, parent-child relations, drug use, guns and violence, murder, gambling . . . . .
