Pros:Pulse Pounding, Fast Moving
Cons:Sometimes too fast paced, stretches "believe-ability" at a few points
I went to see this movie for a couple of reasons - previews looked pretty good, other friends wanted to see it, and I'm an ex-submariner myself and always like to check out and see how Hollywood portrays us.

The movie is extremely fast paced once it gets through the required set up and to the action. It does keep coming and coming barely giving you time to realize what just happened before the next one comes along and requires your attention. The acting is well above average in most places and the directing does a good job of keeping the story moving in the right direction. It will keep your eyes glued to the screen until the very end.
Some bad points - and I will admit that most of these will only be obvious to someone who has actually served aboard submarines - but here they are (warning - some of these may be plot spoilers):
- When the German supply submarine showed up and "supposedly" saw two submarines, how did it know which was which? The American sub was disguised as a German U-Boat and had already fooled the other sub that had much better visibility. And if they were just going to sink both subs - the other torpedoes for the second sub would have already been in the water.
- Hollywood always has to put the bursting pipes in sub movies. Hey guys, those pipes HAVE to feed something, they are there for a reason - to run something. If you turn off the valve and set off the flow something stops working. Plus - they all seem to have water in them, how about air which is used just as much aboard a sub.
There is more - but that's enough here.
Overall - a good movie. Well worth seeing.
