OH MY is all I can say about this latest Disney Film. Why? It just does not have the Disney movie feeling. The feeling of up beat, the feeling of walking away with something, the feeling that you know Disney did another great family film. The plot is pretty heavy I would recommend not taking very young children to see this.
Took the kids to see the movie because they love Disney Films, even as they get older, and it is a DINOSAUR movie. The part of it being a dinosaur movie was the big drawl for my boys nine and eleven. The movie has the first few minutes of happiness very few minutes then darkness for about 60 mins after that. Darkness, the story of the way of life, young ones go on and the old must die. Of course you do get that it helps to work together and to believe that there is a better place somewhere after something terrible happens.
The movie reminds me of the Lion King how Simba left and found a family to group up with and then returns to his original family. This is just about what Alador has happened to him expect he did not leave on his own, this was a funny part of the movie his voyage. He grows up with a bunch of monkeys and when the meteor hits that is when they need to move on and come across other dinosaurs looking for the breeding grounds
The visual effects are the best I have ever seen in a Disney movie. I was paying more attention to that for a lot of the movie then the actual movie. There is not much conversation nor music in this movie just visual effects.
The movie is rated PG which it should be for some of the scenes. No actual blood but the image is there.
