Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie''s plot.
Animal Holiday is a short movie (~30 minutes) with Santa reading letters from kids that ask questions about polar animals. Throughout the movie Santa narrates short segments about various polar animals that answer the posed question and tell more about the animals asked about. At the end of each segment there is an unique song about the animal segment that just finished played to the tune of popular Christmas songs. These songs are mostly pretty fun for the kids to sing along to, especially if you play the video with the Sing Along captions on. The movie ends with a special Animal Holiday version of the 12 days of Christmas that includes mostly animals discussed in the movie.
The animals discussed in this movie include Penguins, Reindeer, Polar Bears, Narwhal, and River Otters. Each segment uses live action video footage of the animals as Santa narrates about them. There are also live action video footage messed together for the sing along songs. Many of the things taught were things I knew, but I imagine most kids will learn at least a few new things about the animals discusses.
This DVD has several interesting special features that add to the education value and entertainment value of this DVD. One special feature is Sing-Along Songs, which allows you to choose which sing along song from the movie you want to play. There are two games. One is a Guess Who? Game in which you guess which animal the partial photo is showing. The other is an Interactive Quiz, which includes 10 true false questions about facts taught in the movie. The last special feature is called Sound Off!, which talks about how some of the animals in the movie communicate and gives short audio clips of how they sound.
Overall I found this to be an enjoyable short holiday movie. It is nice that it teaches a little about polar animals while also being Christmas themed with Santa narrating and using the Christmas song tunes. Best of all I like the sing along songs because they are unique and reinforce things learned in the different segments.
