Pros:Eddie Murphy is back with more laughs and more Klump, the hamster scene

Cons:May be a bit suggestive for some, may offend others as well

When they came up with the idea of having one person play six to eight different characters in one movie, they met their match with Eddie Murphy. I've been a fan of Murphy since Saturday Night Live and everything he does is filled with non-stop laughter.

It's the same with Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps.

My brother and I were on a movie kick, so he decided to treat me to this movie. I'm usually very hesitant about going to opening weekend shows because I hate to deal with the large crowds, the loud and obnoxious moviegoers and possibly having to go to a later show because the time I wanted to go to was sold out. Well, all of this did happen this weekend, but I didn't want to disappoint my brother, so we first saw X-Men and at 9:30, we saw The Klumps.

Usually what would happen with my brother and me is either he or I would see a movie first and recommend it to the other and see it with each other. The agreement being no one tells the other what happened. We both went into this movie blind, not knowing any major details except what we saw in previews. From the opening scene, it was non-stop laughter.

Quick synopsis of the movie. Professor Sherman Klump and his family (Murphy) are back for seconds and this time; we get to focus on the family a little more. Sherman, along with his colleague Denise Gaines (Janet Jackson) has come up with a formula for the fountain of youth. Sherman has also been bitten by the love bug and becomes smitten with Denise. It takes him a little time and with the help of some small, light friends (fireflies), he proposes to Denise. She accepts his proposal, and he's never happier.

That is until Buddy Love resurfaces once again.

In the beginning of the movie, we hear (and see - I won't even give away that one in the opening scene) Buddy start to resurface. Sherman begins to panic and feels the only way he can be fully happy with Denise is to get rid of Buddy once and for all. Sherman decides to extract the portion of DNA that attributes to Buddy. However, in a freak accident, Buddy is reincarnated and the problems start. To add to the hysteria, because Sherman has extracted part of his DNA, it messes up his brain cells and unless he and Buddy become one again, Sherman IQ will dwindle down to nothing and he will basically become a vegetable.

The movie has many different subplots which are fairly easy to follow. First off, with the youth serum. Dean Richmond (Larry Miller) sees a major profit in this youth serum and decides to work his magic, yet again. Phleer, a major pharmaceutical company, is very interested in the formula and is willing to pay $150,000,000 so it can be mass-produced. Buddy has discovered this bit of information and is determined to beat Sherman to the punch and get the rights and money on the deal.

We also get to know the Klumps a little more. We come to know that Grandma Klump is quite the sex addict and loves to get it on. Those scenes are hilarious and will have you crying and holding your stomach with laughter. Of course look for Granny to have some wise cracks and comments in the movie and you'll love her little fantasy. Guaranteed to generate some laughs.

Papa Klump recently retired from the construction business and the family has a dinner celebration at an all-you-can-eat buffet. You can expect a lot of laughter from that dinner scene. It's part one with three times the laughter. Papa’s relationship with Mamma Klump is not up to par, Mamma feels he's not being more affectionate and it starts to hinder the marriage. At one point, Sherman decides to hide his youth serum at the house so Buddy can't find it. Papa Klump decides to take some of the serum so he can be the young, vibrant Cletus he once was and be the man to Mamma.

I laughed from beginning to end in this movie. If you are a fan of Nutty Professor, you will be in for a treat with The Klumps. The make-up was amazing, the digital effects were a sight. It's been done very well that you can't even tell each member of the Klump family was digitally enhanced. They all look like individual people. You'll cheer for Sherman, boo for Buddy, feel for Mamma and Papa and downright laugh for (rather at) Granny. Janet Jackson gave a good performance as well. Everyone in the movie was great.

I thought this movie was really funny and you'll enjoy it if you have an open mind and love to laugh. Be sure to stick around for the credits as they show some bloopers from the movie. Sometimes the bloopers are funnier than the final cuts.
