Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
A few weeks ago, we rented Big Momma's House. We wanted to watch it with the entire family. We had a lot of time on our hands, and we decided to spend that time by watching a movie. We went for a comedy, because everybody likes a good laugh. It may not be the best movie I've ever seen, but it sure was worth the time.
The bad thing about this movie is that, there were many similar movies made, such as Mrs. Doubtfire. The first movie I saw where someone takes another's identity was funny, but after a while, it gets predictable.
Malcolm (Martin Lawrence) is and FBI agent. He goes undercover as Hattie Mae Pierce A.K.A Big Momma (Ella Mitchell), to bust a criminal. They think that the criminal is Big Momma's granddaughter, Sherry (Nia Long). Sherry hasn't seen her grandmother for years, and now calls her and says that she wants to come to visit. However, at that time Big Momma was gone out of her house for 2 weeks, and Malcolm picked up the phone and pretended to be Big Momma. So he says to Sherry, "come on, over". Soon Malcolm and his partner, John (Paul Giamatti) made the outfit costume, and that's when Malcolm goes undercover as Big Momma. And the adventures that Malcolm gets into are unbelievable. A lady called him over to help her squeeze out a baby. Of course Malcolm knew nothing about that, and he almost passed out. When the real Big Momma returned home, all hell broke loose. All the trouble that Malcolm caused... Big Momma saw her boyfriend lying in bed with her best friend. She was about to make them both explain it all to her baseball bat.
All ended well, they found out that Sherry's boyfriend was the real criminal; Sherry saw the real Malcolm, and they got together.
I don't think that this movie would be very suitable for children under the age of 13, because there's a lot of cursing in it.
Overall, I think we chose wisely how to spend the time. It was a good movie. Anybody who likes comedy has to see it.
