On the suggestion of a friend, who recited the "Vagiclean...got a little too much cheese in the taco?" line. That I found funny. The rest of the movie wasn't, I even fell asleep during it on the floor. I don't even WANT to write my own review of it.

Blueeyed,

Thanks for the comments.

I always try to be objective in my reviews, and even the worst films ever made (like, say, Manos: The Hands of Fate) have something redeeming about them (hm...maybe there isn't anything redeeming about Manos afterall. Well, at least Torgo has some really big knees, which is sort of a humorous sight). I try and point out a few of those things in the spirit of fairness.

However, I tend to agree with you--there wasn't anything all that good about this movie.

I like your style. You saw a lot more in this movie than i did I was turned off by the feces and vulgarity. no need for it.

Lambira,

Don't let the fact that you and I have the same thoughts on the film stop you from writing about it...I'd love to see this film get the 'Lambira treatment'.

Agreed about the three kids--I just wish they would have given them something more to do other than curse--the gag got a bit obvious by their third scene...pretty much like everything else in this film.

I felt the same way you did about this movie...disappointed and bored. You said it all in your review, but I still feel like I need to write one myself...perhaps I'm seeking a catharsis. In fact, I'm thinking of calling my review, "72% of people recommended this?" I like gross-out humor too, but I think that this movie shows that the Farrellys have pretty much run out of bodily fluid gags to mine.

Although I never did get sick of seeing the three foulmouthed sons.

LIBRA!
Well, of course...how silly of me. The well balanced, perfectly fair reviews should have told me that much :)
So we're talking...like...late Sept/early Oct here... You're a Chinese year Rat, which is quite jolly. To the people who think your reviews are too long..first I say "piffle", and next, I quote Suzanne White's horoscope on you- "Rat people must work out solutions to problems through wordy examinations of parameters. Libra subjects, because they seek balance in life, are wont to commit gobs of time to verbose examinations of every side of the story" And it works brilliantly on Epinions! :)

By the way, hope your girlfriend is a Dragon, or a Monkey ;) (birth years '64, '76, '68, and '80 respectively :) Always recommended for a Rat :)

...I'd heard the same. I actually was looking forward to this release, but it has been trashed so bad by critics and public alike, I think my money would be best spent elsewhere. Like all the rest of your opinions, great job! Enjoyed the read!

Minx,

Actually, I'm a Libra...I just like to start dreading things as early as possible.

My girlfriend realized that the film would suck just from watching the trailers--she lucked out and didn't go to the movie.

Well dearie...(hitching up my Depends)...sounds like you're a Cancer. (wheezing as I ease my walker closer to the desk) Worrying about being "old" and out of touch at 28...(hacking up a gob and losing my teeth in the process)..frankly I have to question whether we ought to be trusting the opinions of such a baby ... ;)

Whenever it is...Happy Birthday to Youuuu!!

Oh yeah, and about this movie. "Pyewwww". And that I got just from the trailers ;)

Bruce,

Was that a compliment or a dig? I couldn't tell.

And it's Ebert who's still alive.

Looks like someone practiced hard in typing class. This review was almost as long as the movie.

At least good old Mike won't be showing up soon as Ebert's (or is Siskell the live one?) sidekick soon.

I agree except for the rating... (Reply to this comment)

Hey, I thought basically everything you said about the movie was true. The only difference is that I enjoyed it and gave it a "4" rating. Just goes to show you some people have different tolerance for different things. Totally agree about the terrible plot and the limited scope of the jokes, but that was why the movie worked for me!

Zack,

Definitely a weird flick for me to review--but it's all part of my new master plan to make more money here at Epinions.

anyway, Kingpin is by far my favorite of the brothers Farrelly's films. Gross, crude, yet there was an actual story there--and characters that you could sort of identify with...something that's completely missing from the film.

This is a very interesting kind of movie for you to reviewing, Mike. I'm kind of mixed about the Farrely brothers' work. I mostly disliked There's Something About Mary, but I thought Kingpin was downright hilarious. I have mixed feelings about Dumb and Dumber.

What did you think about Kingpin, Mike? I think it's their best movie so far. Bill Murray steals the show.

You know, I almost went to Chicken Run, based solely on ZentropaJK's review, but I figured there'd be busloads of kids there, and, well, I wasn't feeling up to that. In retrospect, I the kids would have been easier to endure than this film.

Thanks Mike - going to spend my hard-earned epinions dough on a showing of Chicken Run instead.

Dan,

Well, if it's any consolation, I don't think it's Carrey's fault. In fact, if anyone other than him had been in the film, I'd have probably walked out.

You never know, though--you may enjoy it.
