Pros:Great movie, very educational.
Cons:Long, not good for "antsy" viewers.
The Bottom Line: I recommend to any history buffs this movie and to anyone else that wishes to see mel gibson.

Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.

This movie teaches of Americas indepence and the origin of our bickering with the mother country, England.
Mel Gibson is the main role in this film, and stars as the Patriot. He is a flag bearer for the army and has served for two years. The movie takes great perspective when his son joins the army and is shot.
Although there is some cursing used and some sexual content, this movie is quite educational, I actually learned a few things. On Neils must see movie list, The Patriot is #17. Great value on DVD or VHS.
In theatre, gives full effect, a few gory seens which are not needed in the movie, but all in all, The Patriot is a very good movie.
