I hadn't noticed that, but I will have to look for it on DVD. And I hope you see what I mean about the beginning and end - if you don't ask, and I'll let you in on the secret...

Nice review. You said, "[there is] no 'Hmm, I wonder what [the ghost] might want. Maybe I'll take a nap and think about it' crud." Well, there wasn't that exactly, but how often to you descend stairs backwards? That one really irritated me.
Other than that, I really loved this movie. Zemeckis' elegant style is just to die for. I can't wait to see this again, and now I can't wait to see what you're referring to in the "very beginning and the last scene."
Regarding the very beginning: One thing I picked up on (that made me proud of me) was that, when the titles appear on the screen, the word "Lies" appears half-a-second before "What" and "Beneath"... for a reason.
