Ooh... The Killing Joke is one of my favourite Batman comics (but, then, I'm a Moore fan). I would've loved to see that version wind up in Batman Beyond. I'd been complaining about them not using it in the first live-action Batman movie. Ah well.

I have watched much of the series, but haven't yet seen the movie... and now I have the panic-stricken feeling that I'll never be able to get the real version and therefore might as well not bother.
When I saw the primetime premiere of Batman Beyond, I thought it was some kind of Dude-ish trash. Later, after the series managed to hook me, I actually enjoyed the same premiere that I'd initially poo-pooed.
I prefer the episodes that more heavily feature Bruce Wayne (and the dog episodes, oddly), because I adore this old curmudgeon (though non-Dark Knight) version of him. But even some of the sans-Wayne episodes are good.
Unfortunately they keep switching this series to obnoxious hours of the day, like 7am right now, when I can't watch it. I'll catch it whenever it's on at 11, or another later hour, though.

I don't know how it happened, but I became a major Batman fan years and years ago, when I was just a young thing. I think it might have been the 60's sit-com that did it for me. It was cheese, but darnit, it was good cheese.
You're not missing much by way of the show I think; I tried to watch the pilot but quickly lost interest. I really wish that they hadn't combined the original animated series with Superman *sigh*

I think it must be the makeup. Maybe it has lead in it for the white--that would explain the way he acts.
I love this show, too. I wish Barbara were there as Oracle instead of as the commissioner, but I guess that would mean they'd have to use the Killing Joke storyline, and that would alienate younger audiences.

this show (OK, fine, you've caught me. A 30 year-old cartoon lover) and your review is excellent. I was looking forward to purchasing this film, yet I was skeptical as to the quality of the presentation. Thank you for assuaging my fears.
