Pros: At the end, you see how the two movies tie together ...
Cons: You have to wait to the end to see what's going on.
The Bottom Line: This movie is a poor re-make. At the end you see how it ties in to the first movie... but you have to get through the first two hours!
Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot.
At the very end of the movie, Sebastian gets a hard cover journal from one of the girls that seduced him. Most people don’t realize that “Cruel Intentions 2” is not an ordinary sequel... It’s what happened BEFORE Cruel Intentions 1. In the first movie, Sebastian writes about his conquests in that book. It’s the only indication that these movies are
actually in reverse order.
The whole movie was basically a disappointment because I kept thinking it was a horrid remake of the first version, and not a sequel at all. It wasn’t a continuation of the first one. It seemed like the exact same thing, but with different characters. The acting was horrible, except for the one short-haired blonde girl (I didn’t even pay attention long enough to get their names!) who is a great actress! She had this one scene where she was riding a horse, and got “off” on it. She’s incredibly un-intelligent, but plays her part incredibly perfect.
We rented this movie on DVD. There have been a few exceptional DVDs that have other features, such as quizzes, interviews, or music videos. This one doesn’t. No special
features, but I believe there were previews for other types of the same movie.
There were a few parts that were a bit exaggerated. Such as Sebastian’s sexual appetite. Sure, I realize that young men have healthy appetites for such things, but he was ridiculous about it. He made obsurd out-of-reality comments. It didn’t lead me to believe that it was “really” happening. A lot of his lines sound like they were written by a ten year old.
Okay, so the movie was bad, the acting was bad, the plot was identical to the first, so what do I think of the movie? Actually, after I realized the tie-in, it somehow made everything clear-er. Such as how Sebastian got to be such a jerk in the first movie. We see how he’s really a nice, but troubled guy. He really wants to be faithful to one girl, although she’s seducing him, and he doesn’t even know. It wasn’t a waste of time because I like that type of movie. But if you didn’t like Cruel Intentions, or if you only like movies with known actors, then this movie is not for you.
