Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
I recently had the opportunity to watch Air Bud 3: World Pup on an American Airlines flight. Fortunately they handed out the headphones for free. I wouldn't have wanted to pay for this movie!

This movie is the third in a series of "Air Bud" movies. The first one had a golden retriever playing basketball, the second has him playing football, and in this one (you guessed it!) he plays soccer.
I never saw either of the first two movies. I'm glad I never saw the first two!
This movie centers on a high school soccer team who needs an extra player. The added player is, of course, Air Bud. The team goes from lousy to great and finds themselves going into the championships. The opposing team (headed by the Disney-esque villian coach) forces the school board to declare Air Bud ineligible. In the end, he gets to play and they win the finals! Big surprise, right?!?
There are a couple of side plots: the teen boy who is Buddy's owner (and teammate) falls for a girl on the team, and Buddy falls for the girl's dog. The two dogs eventually have a litter of puppies. For some reason, there is an "evil" dog catcher who keeps trying to dog-nap the puppies, although I never really understood why.
In true Hollywood fashion, Buddy and the two kids are late for the final game because they are rescuing the puppies. They arrive with 3 minutes to go in the game and, of course, they win. There is a cameo appearance by one of the U.S. female World Cup Soccer team members who congratulates Buddy and in the very end, we see Buddy take the field as the substitute goalie in the U.S. World Cup.
(That sounds realistic doesn't it?!?)
OK, so I didn't like this movie. Maybe it would be good for kids, but I'm certainly glad I didn't pay to watch this!
Thanks for reading.
