Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
Okay - I'll admit it. I knew before I ever pushed "PLAY" that this movie was going to be cheesy. Even had a plate of crackers sitting on the coffee table. I was ready.
But here's the deal: Freddie Prinze, Jr. is so darn cute, that looking at him for a couple of hours is worth it - regardless of how good the movie is. That's all.
So the story starts off with Ryan (Prinze) and Jennifer (what was her name? Oh well, doesn't matter...) meeting when they were in their pre-teens on a plane. They don't hit it off. Then they meet later in high school. They don't hit it off. Then they see each other again in college... You guessed it, they don't hit it off. But after more and more running into each other, they finally become friends. Then they fall in love. They screw. Then they fight. Then they realize that they're in love. Then they make up. Predictable. Typical boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back. No surprises.
The entire movie moves along at a snails pace. It starts out slow & never bothers to gain any momentum. The dialouge between Ryan and Jennifer is so awkward and unbelievable. I can't believe that anyone even bothered to waste the ink to put the script down on paper.
Additionally, the two "supporting" actors, the guy from American Pie & the girl who played his long time crush in Saving Silverman - were totally irrelevant to the story... Might as well have made life-sized cardboard figures of the two of them & saved some money out of the film budget. Either way - the movie was lame & you guessed it - SSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOO stupid.
The only hope I had for this movie was that I'd see Freddie Prinze, Jr. in a make-out scene or catch a glimpse of his bootie. Didn't even get that. The one sex scene shows very little & even worse, the DVD that I rented from Blockbuster Video was skipping & so I didn't even get to see the make out scene long enough to get a woody. It kept skipping.
It would have been better if he had been NEKKED. Maybe next time.
