Gov9's Full Review: Sopranos - The Complete First Season
Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
The first season of the Sopranos coming to DVD was a dream come true and made for a wonderful Christmas gift.
As far as the DVD was concerned the picture quality was average, the sound was excellent, and the extras were almost nonexistent(aside from the great David Chase commentary track).
The Sopranos are your typical suburban New Jersey family with one exception. Tony Soprano is a high-ranking official in the North Jersey Mafia. These are the two worlds that we are exposed to, and they often collide.
The first season deals more with character development and has more simplified plots than the second season, but there are a lot of things that you can pick up the more you watch these episodes. They are all great episodes, but Episode 5: College is definitely my favorite, especially the last scene.
Some Italian Americans feel the show portrays them in a very negative light, but after all, it is a TV show. Also, if you can't stand violence, nudity, & bad language, then you probably shouldn't watch, but everyone else should love this show.
The Sopranos takes TV to a whole new level, and HBO and David Chase should be applauded. Hopefully there will more DVD box sets for all the future(cross your fingers) seasons.
