Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.


I just want to let ya'll know I am not an advisor on movies or even that great at reviewing them . I haven't yet read any of the other member's opinions on this movie so I will be sure that this was wrote from my own viewing experience .

MEN OF HONOR

Well , I must admit that I have been disappointed here lately with the films out . I looked forward to Cast Away with eager anticipation . All I got was Tom Hanks . So , when I saw this movie at Blockbuster for the rental price of $4.75 + tax , I was really hoping against all hopes that this wouldn't be another waste of time and money .

This movie stars Robert De Niro and Cuba Gooding Jr. We all know how great De Niro is , but if you have yet to be introduced to Gooding , you are missing out . Gooding reminds me of a young Morgan Freeman .

This movie is kinda like a black power movie . It is set back in the 1950's and 60's . Then the practices of some people were tacky and even are now somewhat . I have heard that this is a true story , but I do not know this for fact .

When the movie starts of it shows Cuba's dad plowing a field . His hands are bleeding and he is insisting his son go to school . You can feel the love of this father and son relationship throughout the show . It's touching .

Gooding plays a black man trying to climb his way up into the Marines or Navy . I always get those two mixed up . Though that was a very short time ago , blacks were only cooks in those days . Gooding goes into his job with disappointment as he wants to make something of himself for him and his father .

De Niro plays a hard nosed master diver . He is prejudiced as most are on this show . He gives Gooding a hard time and calls him Cookie .

There are also a couple of under toned love stories in this show that provide a great content fill . They are of course related to the two main characters .

I do not want to give away any more of this movie . There are many times you are left in fear and anxiety . There are many times you get just mad at the treatment of Gooding and some others . Overall , the ending is great . Not one of those that leave you hanging . All the strings are tied into a pretty little bow that made me smile with a couple of tears in my eyes .

If you see this movie you will be proud of the story line and the acting . It never seems to drag and is hard not to get all caught up in emotions as if today the very same things were happening .
