Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
My mom just purchased the movie "102 Dalmations" on VHS, so I just had to borrow it and watch it. I loved the first one. (In fact I just wrote a review of it as well.)
Glenn Close stars once again in this sequel that is 100 minutes of action packed fun. I especially liked the way they continued on in the story with this one...Dipstick, one of the original puppies of Pongo and Perdy from the first movie, has grown up and is now owned by Probation Officer Chloe Simon. It just so happens that Chloe gets the wonderful privilege of being Cruella De Vil's probation officer upon her release from the Behavior Control Unit of the prison she's been at for the last 3 years. After several treatments of hypnosis and electric shock therapy, they think Cruella is cured of her hatred for dogs and animals. In fact, upon her release, Cruella changes her name to Ella. "Cruella just sounds too cruel," she says ever so sweetly.
Dipstick and his ever so spotted bride-dog Dottie have 3 cute puppies. One of which has no spots, and therefore is named Oddball.
Another main character, Kevin, owns the 2nd Chance Dog Shelter for stray dogs. Waddlesworth is a mouthy macaw who thinks he is a Rottweiler. He too stays at the dog shelter. He refuses to fly because dogs don't fly.
Of course we know, that eventually these two will meet (Chloe and Kevin). What would the movie be without a little romance.
But meanwhile, back at Cruella's evil mansion, she has all of her furs taken away and locked up. Just looking at fur makes her sick. (Remember, she was brainwashed.)
For a while, Ella remains nice and becomes a prominent member of society. Then, one day she hears the Big Ben Clock and it brings her out of her hypnosis. She sees the spots on Chloe's dogs, and turns evil all over again. She becomes her old self, and Cruella is back. She is back, and so is her love of fur. Especially her desire to own a Dalmation puppy fur coat, of course. So once again, Cruella is on a quest to steal 99 puppies in order to make this coat. Ever wonder where they got the name 102 Dalmations? Well, of course, because Dipstick has 3 puppies of his own, and she has a vendetta against Dipstick, she decides to make a hood for her coat out of the 3 puppies.
The cutest part of this whole movie though is where all the dogs are watching the movie "Lady and the Tramp." You've just got to see it for yourself. And the hilarious comments made by Waddlesworth just make this movie a must see comedy. I laughed so hard in a few spots, I almost had tears in my eyes. My kids just loved Waddlesworth.
On with the show...Cruella's own little dog Fluffy (given to her by her chouffer, not to mention the ugliest dog I have ever seen) turns against Cruella and shows Chloe and Dipstick the way to the furs, and reveals to them that Cruella is back. The chase is on. And as if what happened to Cruella at the end of the last movie wasn't gross enough, just wait till you see what happens to her in this movie. Cake anyone?
I don't know if it would be fun to be the villain or not. I guess I'll never know. I'm not an actress. Glenn Close does a fine job, so I'll just leave that to her.
Our entire family loved this movie. Two thumbs up.
The ending...

Waddlesworth learns to fly
and Oddball gets her spots.
