Ulfson's Full Review: Amazing Nurse Nanako Vol. 3: The Last Spiral
Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
NOTE: This review is a continuation of my reviews of this series. If you haven't read my reviews of the first two volumes, you might want to do that before continuing or you risk plot spoilers.
I have to admit that the only reason why I watched this volume is because I figured that since there were only two episodes left I might as well. I had watched 2/3 of this series and the least I could do was finish it off and I haven't been more surprised in a very long time! The first two volumes of this series were well....... bad! But this volume manages to tie up almost every loose plot end that was created in the first two volumes and even leaves you wanting more!
In the first volume you had to deal with question after question about who are these people, why are they interested in an idiot like Nanako, and who actually cares about this series? The second volume brought about even more questions concerning where did all the bad guys and conspiracies go and what is with all these secret hush hush pasts? And now, all your questions (well, most of them) are answered with this final volume.
In this volume Nanako's secret past is revealed and everything is brought to the surface. Of course in the process you end up getting to see lots of mindless blood, violence, whining and T&A but if you have watched the first two volumes of this disc you owe it to yourself to watch this one. If nothing else than to justify to your body why you killed so many brain cells.
In these final two episodes, Ogami and Nanako must flee after Cross (remember him from volume one?? Yups, he's back!) is ordered to continue the operation to retrieve Nanako for the secret experiments that are going on behind the American governments (Yup, they are back too!) back. In the process you learn all about why everyone is doing everything, who almost everyone is (there are still two people that I have no idea what their names are and why they are even in the series) and what the end results are.
This is the only volume in the series that I think is worth watching and if you can have someone fill you in one everything that happened in the first two volumes you can just skip those move onto this one. Not only will you save tons of brain cells but this disc actually made me feel for the characters and care about the story. I actually cared about what happened to Nanako and Dr. Ogami and wanted to see how things turned out and truly for the first time since watching this series, I actually wanted there to be a happy ending.
This series overall was a complete flop of epic proportions but with this final disc, it redeems itself ever so slightly.
