The Bottom Line: A horror movie that takes pride in the fact that it will scare you based on its stories which uses the classic elements of horror and suspense.
Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
Remember those movies within movies, like Tales From the Darkside, the Twilight Zone Films, more recently Tales From the Hood, where you'd have a movie that would tell you several stories all with a common theme running through them? Well, Terror Tract is one of them. And not a bad one at that. It may appear to be cheesy but the stories are actually pretty good entertainment.
Terror Tract is a 2000 movie released by October Films, which surprised and actually made me want to rent it, if nothing else then just for the fact that October Films has not been known for releasing crappy films. It stars John Ritter, who plays a real estate agent whose top 3 homes in his area will not sell. Why? Because he is obligated to tell them about the horrifying history of these houses to the prospective new home owners that he shows the houses to. And no one wants to own a haunted house it seems, at least one where anyone that lives in it could come under the wrath of the angry and tormented spirits that still live in it.
The movie revolves around John Ritter picking up a young couple and driving them around this neighborhood, a peacefull, neatly manicured neighborhood, whose very soul seems to have been rotted and infested into the sewer system as all of the seemingly normal people in the neighborhood can constantly be seen doing aggressive and mean things to the nature around them. John Ritter has to sell at least one of these top 3 homes and at each home, he has to tell them about the history of the home and the reason why it is haunted. The stories take about 22 minutes each and after you watch one, you become so engrossed in the characters in that story, you may feel as though the movie is going to end, but you've still got 2 more stories to go.
Terror Tract is campy but really fun and entertaining. The stories are actually good and the film is not as cheesy as you might think. There is also a surprise twist at the end of the film. Terror Tract is the kind of movie you would rent if you're in an "Outer Limits" type of mood. It does have blood and some violence, but not an excessive amount of gore. This is one horror movie that really takes pride in the fact that it will scare you based on its stories which revolve around the classic elements of horror and suspense.
