One Step Beyond: a classic Ghost Story from WWII

Written: Jun 10 '01

Pros:Good Story Telling
Cons:Poor acting
The Bottom Line: A show that recreates "strange or unusual" events, that claims to be true and documented.

Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.

This episode is amazing, well all the episodes I have seen have been amazing, this one starts in an evidence room in London, surrounded by items found from burned out bombed building of the war. A clock that stop ticket a 7:35 AM or was it PM doesn't matter now. And a boxing glove. . .

And thus our story begins...

In the East End Area there is a story of the ghost Patty, Patty was a boxer that died in the ring. Four years after his death the boxer that killed him, saw him again, and died in the ring. A couple more times a boxer would see Patty and then die in the Ring.

An aging American boxer, is trying his luck in the ring one last time. He wants the money to open up a bar and grill. His health is in question and the Navy will not even have him. The manager of the other boxer knows this and hires a guy to dress like Patty.

When the boxer sees Patty again, he gets distracted and get knocked out. Only one problem, the guy who was hired to play Patty has been passed out drunk and no where near the scene of the crime. So it must have been the REAL Patty, but then why did both managers see him and both boxers, for only the boxer that dies sees Patty!

The story is fun and interesting and made more so that these stories are true stories. Well at least reported AS TRUE. Who really knows about these supernatural things.

The acting is not the best in the world, but does not distract from the story line at all.

I enjoy most One Step Beyond stories, and if you would like to see them for yourself all you have to do is go to

Liketelevision.com is a web site full of TV shows from the past movies, and retro commercials. I saw a great commercial for a brand new product called Skippy Peanut Butter, the only Peanut butter made with Hydrogenated Oil, they then spent a minute explaining why Hydrogenated Oil is so good. Today most products use Hydrogenated Oil and it is not a sales point, so it was interesting to learn that YES, Hydrogenated Oils uses to be an important selling point, that it was state of the art technology in food products.

If anyone want to know what Hydrogenated Oil in Peanut Butter does, I will add it to my comments.
