What does "The Joe Review" mean? 2 things: 1. I'm extremely pompous and actually believe that something named after me means something :). 2. If you read a Joe Review you will be reading a review that doesn't repeat the same things the other 10 to 30 reviewers have already said. You're just going to find out whether or not I liked it and why or why not.

Hollywood got another one right!!! I was very happy all the way through this movie - not only was having some ad exec kind of guy be able to literally read women's minds a great idea for a movie, but the cast, script, subplots, and action were all done with thorough detail - I actually felt like the moviemakers cared whether or not the person who saw the movie enjoyed it.

The previews make the plot pretty obvious - Mel Gibson's character attains the ability to read women's minds. What's not quite as obvious (and I'm going to blow a couple plot details here, but they're early in the movie so it shouldn't ruin much) is that he's an advertising executive who gets passed over for a promotion for a woman, because advertising today is not reaching women well enough. He proceeds to read the woman's mind and steal her ideas.

A great thing about this movie is the things going on on the side, like his daughter's prom, a coffeeshop worker he wants to bed, and a woman that as he discovers seems to be having suicidal thoughts. Don't worry, these happen early in the movie I'm blowing very little.

I do want to stop there though - this should set you up to the point where you know what to expect from the movie. Just consider this review the foundation and look forward to a well-lain-out, paced, acted, and scripted movie. The only warning is it does start very slow, you kinda have to sit there for about 20 minutes before the real action starts, and the ending is kind of corny, but not anything that should stop you from enjoying the movie. Go rent it - you won't be sorry.
