After he survives a freak accident, a Chicago based advertising businessman Nick Marshall (Mel Gibson) learns that he's been blessed with the power to "hear" women's minds. At first, he struggles to survive that piercing voice of oestrogen. Then he uses his new skill to please his new boss Darcy Mcguire (Helen Hunt), whom he despises at first. But he ends up understanding so well, what it is that she wants that he can't help falling in love with her.
Alright, so this movie tries to make a statement, that women are capricious. It is impossible for a man to understand a woman, unless he got hit by mind-flipping lightning.
Watching Mel in pantyhose was outright upsetting. Do you have to dress like one to know what a woman really wants. Well, Does a woman even know what she wants. Her wants change with her moods as is what most of us know and sigh about. But they also change with age and maturity and I would believe its true for men too. But trying not to divert from the plot of "What Women Want", what they really want is a cute hunk atleast attempting to understand their psychy.
Mel Gibson is cute..like he always is. Helen Hunt, give me a break will ya. Lauren Holly as Nick's ex wife is not seen enough. Then maybe Nick doesnt really want to know what she wants. Merissa Tomei and Bette Midler in their guest roles do justice. Ashley Johnson as Alex, the teen-aged daughter is adorable. Yes this is truly an all star cast. But really thats all it is. Do WOMEN really WANT to go see it ?
