Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
Wilson got robbed when he didn't get nominated for the best supporting actor! He never forgot a line, and without Wilson the movie and Hanks would be nuts. This film was one commercial plug after the next. I wish I had the royalties paid by half of them. I could attend movie funded by my gains forty years after I died.
Tom Hanks was good in this film, as he has been in the past, and amazingly he was able to fatten up for the roll.
Although Hanks was good, I found myself romantically drawn to his co-star Wilson. When I got home I had repeated dreams of finding myself a castaway with no one but Wilson and myself. One should be so lucky! It amazed me how Wilson could avoid sunburn or tanning as Hanks' character did. The abuse that Hanks gave Wilson tended to set a bad example. Being a male I strongly object to seeing Wilson getting hit in the... I don't even want to go there, but I felt the pain!
The film had a major fault as it left you hanging in the end. I suppose the director was trying to allow you to experience the empty feeling of not knowing where to turn, as Hanks' character was experiencing. However, I would prefer not being left hanging as Castaway left it's viewers. After going through the pains of being stranded on the isle with Hanks for hours, I wanted to know how he coped with the return from being stranded for years. Compared Castaway to the movie of Bruce Willis' The Kid. Although The Kid was not as good as Castaway, when it was over you knew where you were. If you are looking for a movie with a happy ending, this one may not be for you. I truly didn't feel I had made a mistake by paying for the show, but I did feel like I had taken my date to a nice restaurant and my date excused herself to go to the rest room and never returned. You know the feeling... On second thought I don't either, but you know what I mean. If you see this movie be sure to carry your basketball as I heard that Wilson and your basketball are first cousins.
If you haven't seen this movie yet, you must have been on one of the isles next to the one Hanks was stranded on, a story that I am sure Castlerock Productions would love to make a movie about. If they do, insist that they don't leave the viewer hanging!
By the way. Welcome back to civilization Tom! Bet you miss the island, huh?
NOTICE This review mistakingly placed under the movie Cast Away. Yep, there are two movies by the name that appeared relatively at the same time. This review was rated before for the fact that it was in the wrong topic. I hate it. I made the mistake of playing follow the leader. I saw other's pros and cons and since they said Tom Hanks I put two and two together and got three. Oh well, at least the Red Soxfan is happier now.

This review was prepared by my son who requested a chance to try his hand at making movie reviews. Please see my other reviews as they were composed by me. I intend to leave this review to encourage and maybe in later years to be able look back at and laugh with my son at his skill at making reviews. I think although he is trying, he is more suited for studying chemistry. I love and appreciate his wanting to follow in my footsteps... Please tolerate this review and thank you for your understanding. p.s I liked the film although I agree that Hank has done better.
