Pros:Good acting, Good story, good script
Cons:a bit slow, disappointing ending
The Bottom Line: Its an okay chick flick, but wait for video.
Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
This was a sweet movie, but it was a weeper. The acting is good by both Keanu and Charlize. The story is good, but a bit unbelievable. Its a lot better than Autumn in New York. I also love the Enya song Only Time that is associated with this movie.
The acting and directing on this film was really good. Keanu is perfect to play the harden man gone soft. Charlize is great as the eccentric girl who changes his life. They both were perfect for their parts, this was a case of casting well done. They gave excellent performances.
The story was good, but a bit unbelievable. Who is going to move in with someone they don't know? Aside from this and the fact that he loses his job and girlfriend as convenient times for the plot, the story is actually good. The script is wonderful, which is the base for this plot since there is little action. It does drag a bit, but not too badly and the ending is a bit depressing. But unlike Autumn in New York the issues that are worked out are still relevant at the end of the movie. The ending doesn't wipe out the story.
The plot is simply that Keanu is a man that only works-- until he meets Charlize character. After he loses his job and girlfriend, she persuades him to move in with her and she will change his life. He agrees. She teaches him how to live and he falls in love with her. I won't give away the ending so that's all I will say. Both characters have issues that are resolved throughout the film, so it has some subplots, besides their "relationship."
I liked this movie, but probably won't watch it again. Its definitely a chick flick. Guys you will be bored. Girls you will cry. I recommend you see it once, but you can probably wait until video.
