Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
It's party time down under and you are the special guest of The Wiggles...that funfilled quartet from Australia!
Greg, Jeff, Murray and Anthony join Dorothy, a big green dinosaur (not to be confused by that big purple dinosaur) at a dance party! And dance they certainly do!
With 15 songs and over 40 minutes of fun, the Wiggles show once more, the enjoyment they show on the screen is genuine! Of course, with Anthony, Murray and Greg being qualified preschool teachers, the fun they show their pint sized guests is honest! Their creative ways of entertaining their guests, spills over into their audience as well, as those who have heard "Di Dikki Do Dum" can so testify.
The music employs not only song, but action as well as they ask the age old question "Can you point your fingers and do the twist?" While the guests demonstrate that they in fact can accomplish this feat, the Wiggles show through example that they too are coordinated enough to keep up with their small charges. Your children will quickly pick up on the movements and words as the songs are easy and fun to learn.
It is obvious to all who love the Wiggles (as my boys do) that this is one of their most animated videos! The excitement of their actions and the energy which they put into their performance, shows why they have been popular in Australia for almost 10 years. They are relatively new to the U.S., so many are not privy to this active foursome in their trademark colors! Each Wiggle wears his colors proudly and Greg (yellow), Murray (red), Anthony (blue) and Jeff (purple) show that their colors are not the only thing brilliant about these young men and their unique way of teaching and entertaining the younger set. Their way of stressing the importance of "Our boat is rocking on the sea", makes the viewer truly believe that that of utmost importance to them, is the entertainment of children.
Though I have been informed by my Aussi friend SMITHSWOODSIDE that Wiggles paraphernalia, ranging from videos, to shoes, to even clothing, is found virtually everywhere in Australa, The Wiggles are still so new to the U.S. that only videos are available at this time. In fact, I have yet to even see their music available in stores, though I have been assured by department heads that it is "on order" at this time.
Their website www.the wiggles.com.au states that there are no plans at this time to produce their TV show on a U.S. channel, so we will have to, for the time being, be satisfied with their videos. Perhaps someone at PBS will "discover" this quartet from the land "down under" with their zany friends Wags the Dog, Captain Feathersword, and Henry the Octopus. But until that time, we must satisfy ourselves with that which we can obtain...such as videos and the website.
So, if your kids (and you too) are tired of the same old childrens videos, pick up a copy of DANCE PARTY when you're next in the store! It is a movin', grovin', colorful, dino dancin' 40 minutes of fun! You won't be sorry...but beware...it may prove to addict you to tunes such as "Wags the Dog" and you may find yourself singing "Nicky Nacky Nocky Noo" as you drive down the street in your "Big Red Car"! And as for their influence on your language....well, see you down under, Mate! :-)
