Plot Details: This opinion reveals no details about the movie's plot.
This is one of the best movies I've seen out of Hollywood for some time now, especially for families. It has everything you want, and nothing you don't. The movie plays like a Mission Impossible or other spy movie, but doesn't contain the "Cool=Tom Cruise" message. Rather, the final message is a clever, supportive statement about families, and the complex and challenging relationships in it.
The movie is first of all fun, and funny. Each character is well acted, and has a comic side to them. The movie was written without all of the standard characters that are too common in animated children's films. As a result, you don't feel like you are watching another off the shelf movie. The spy kids themselves are really well played, and they don't make you envious or jealous, resentful or put-off. The kids are genuine, relatable characters. I think it will spark a whole slew of good films like it to follow suit.
The plot is interesting, but I won't reveal any of it. It is more than a childrens action movie, although thats a good classification. Its more like a well-told bedtime story!
I wouldn't hesitate to take a child to this movie, or an adult. Just don't bring anyone who takes themselves too seriously, the movie will be too fun for them to enjoy!
