The Bottom Line: See this movie if it's your habit to see all the rated G movies with your kids. It's worth seeing, but worth passing up if asked to go twice.
Plot Details: This opinion reveals no details about the movie's plot.
I took my five year old daughter to see Atlantis this opening weekend for her birthday. The movie kept her attention, but parts of the movie were in the Atlantis language and she couldn't read the subtitles. I could overhear kids in the half-filled theater asking what the words said.
The movie itself had a decent, but simple plot of finding the lost empire of Atlantis. Unfortunately, it was a little slow at times and I think that the producers/animators could've done a lot more with the graphics of an underwater world. There were episodes of violence, shooting guns, things being blown up, a fighting scene air-battle but not so much violence that as a parent I got irritated.
Overall, the movie was good. I don't think I'd take a bunch of people for a high price movie ticket. We paid the early-bird price. Would I buy the video when it is released? I think I could pass this one buy, although if my daughter whined hard enough I'd give in. A middle of the road review and movie.
