Pros: computer graphics are cool, story is very complete
Cons: graphics were unnecessary, no originality at all whatsoever in the story
The Bottom Line: Don't let the computer-graphics marketing gimmick fool you - without the novelty of computer graphics the movie wouldn't have gotten off the ground.

Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
If you're a fan of computer graphics you will want to see the movie - it takes you right to the cutting edge. In the beginning scene everything is too dark and you can't tell what's going on but after that it gets good. There are even a few times when you forget you're watching computer-generated images. Sweat, whiskers, skin imperfections and individual hair strands blowing in the wind are mere examples of the attention to detail shown in this film. Some people may complain about the lack of color (it's almost a grayscale type thing a lot of the time) but I thought it added an "effect" if you will to the movie - it let you know you'd been taken to another reality.
Another thing the movie makers did very well was paint a totally hopeless and morbid picture. You didn't even need to see the previews to know that the human race had been taken over and was hanging on by a thread and that the overall mood was really dismal.
But it really ends there. Clearly this movie was little more than a marketing plot - "Hey, come see the movie that uses cool computer graphics!" If this movie had not had the fact that it was made from computer graphics it wouldn't have sold 10 tickets. Really, there is NOTHING in this movie that's never been done before, in fact I'm surprised the movie producers didn't get sued by the makers of Star Wars, or Star Trek, or The Matrix, Aliens, Starship Troopers or even Jurassic Park at times. The story is nothing but pieces of the above six pieced together.
Also, I hope I'm not blowing the movie too much here but the story is very simple - there aren't like subplots going on in the background and the interactions between the different characters are actually pretty boring.
I will say however, that as unoriginal as the story was it was complete. It kinda takes awhile to "get off the ground" (like 20 minutes), but once the story gets going it keeps you glued to your seat.
It was actually a tough decision for me whether to mark this one as recommended or not recommended, because as blatant a swindle as it was and as unoriginal as the story was, the truth is it's not a bad movie. There are plenty of movies out there that are worse. But I decided to mark it Not Recommended because Hollywood needs to get the message that it can't keep wrapping up average movies in outstanding marketing campaigns - the moviegoing public isn't going to take it anymore, and that as complete as the story was it just wasn't that creative. They could've done much better.
