Plot Details: This opinion reveals no details about the movie's plot.
If you are looking for a movie that is as good as the original Jurassic Park, this isn't it. This is however, a very good movie.
This movie seems to have been produced in an odd way. It looks as if they first sat around and worked at figuring out what dinosaurs they could use in this one that hadn't been used yet. They then added the dinosaurs from the last two movies. Next they needed humans and spent very little time working on getting them to the island. It seems as if the story was an after thought. To the movie's credit though, there are some very funny lines and it is an over all very funny movie.
The Jurassic park series of movies have taken the same downfall as the Batman movies, just not as bad. In the first movies of each series the main focus of the movies were the title characters, namely Batman or the dinosaurs. After some time though, the focus shifted. By the last Batman movie the point was just to be a funny movie. The focus of this Jurassic Park movie had nothing to do with dinosaurs. The lead character even says that they are not dinosaurs, just, "Genetically engineered theme park monsters.", and that's all they were in the movie, just an excuse for special effects.
There were some great special effects! Some of the fight scenes between dinosaurs were great and they succeeded in conveying the terror of nearly being eaten in a high paced attack by the largest dino on the island. A couple of the characters were more annoying than was necessary, but they were played well. Their stupidity lent to some of the funnier scenes.
The ending was a bit odd. It was an artsy ending relating back to the ending of the first movie. One major loose end was left un-tied, but it's excusable. The movie moves very quickly and there isn't much of a plot involved.
So, if you are looking for an epic movie like the first one, this isn't it. If you are looking for a good funny movie with some suspense and cool dinosaurs in it, this is a great movie to see.
