Plot Details: This opinion reveals no details about the movie's plot.
I loved rush hour, so when I heard they were coming out with a second one two things went through my head. One, was that it's gonna be another good action comedy with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. The second thing was, sequels generally aren't very good and end up embarrassing the first movie and the actors.
After seeing the previews a few times I figured it looks just as good as the first one, I might as well give it a chance. And I'm glad I did.
Plot Overview - I've read some of the other epinions on Rush Hour 2 and a lot of them seemed to dislike the plot. Well anyone who has ever seen a Jackie Chan movie probably realizes that the plot isn't going to be very great. The general plot is that theres a gang that is making counterfeit money. And Chris Tucker is on vacation trying to get some girls and Jackie Chan keeps dragging him into missions and such. I personally thought the plot was one of his best. However, compared to other movies out there I would give the plot 3 stars.
Actors - I think just about everybody knows this one but in case you missed it, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are the 2 main characters. Chris is in the LAPD, and Jackie is in the Hong Kong police. Chris Penn and Roselyn Sanchez also have pretty big parts in this movie. I think they did a great job putting the cast together.
Comedy - As with the last movie Chris Tucker does most of the comedy and Jackie Chan does most of the Martial Arts. In this movie they tried to even it out a little more. Overall this is a very funny movie.
Fight Scenes - Jackie Chan has made lots of movies, each one with at least a few big fight scenes. And every new movie he makes still has a lot of original moves and ideas. I don't think this was the best movie of his as far as fight scenes goes, but don't get me wrong, the fight scenes are still very impressive.
Special Effects - This is not the Matrix. About the only obvious special effects that I saw were when a few things blew up. So other than the fact that they paid Chris Tucker some $20 Million, this is a relatively low cost movie.
Out takes - This has been Jackie Chan's trademark. At the end of his movies he shows some of the things he did during the movie that didn't go so well. There are a few minutes worth of out takes at the end of this movie as well. And they remind you just how much effort, and sometimes pain, goes into a fight scene.
Overall - I loved this movie. I don't remember my initial reaction after seeing Rush Hour, but Rush Hour 2 was as good if not better than the first. I don't see movies very often but this was a must see for me. I think everybody will enjoy it.
