This movie is the tops! The humor is clean and smart, with hidden "insider" animation/model-making/sci-fi jokes throughout. Like most animated films of the last decade adults will enjoy as much (if not more?) than their children.

Monsters,Inc. is a company in a parallel universe where "scream" equals POWER for the monster community. "Monsters, Inc." has been in the scream-production business for generations, but the scream shortage is serious, and a few "clever" monsters attempt to extract scream in unconventional, unethical and painful ways... The plot of this movie is sheer genius! SCREAM powers the city!? Hysterical. All shapes of monsters employed at "Monsters, Inc." enter single doors that open to parallel locations around the Earth, where they've been trained to terrorize sleeping children to the point of screaming (the more the better). These screams are collected and processed for power. Sully is the gentle giant master, but his evil rival will top him with devious schemes, unless the slick fellow and his accomplices can be stopped.

It's a battle of good verses bad and seemingly good verses even better, as a stronger power source is found in children's laughter.

Character development is solid, characters are consistent and very funny, outtakes were creative, and pre-movie Pixar animation was as much a hoot as the full-length feature.

Great for belly-aching therapeutic laughter.
