I was on vacation this past weekend when I thought to myself, "I wonder what’s new at the box office?" I'd seen the previews for Zoolander and decided that it was the one.


Overview - The whole movie is a big joke on male modeling. Derrick Zoolander is the 3 time Male Model champion, and is set to win number 4. He is somehow "Out-modeled" by a guy named Hansel. The shock of no longer being on top puts Zoolander into a depression. He decides that there's more to life than modeling and he wants to do some new things. At the same time there is a man named Mugatu who wants to take advantage of Zoolander in his fragile state. He plans to brainwash Zoolander so that he will assassinate a world leader for him.


Now I must admit that isn't the most intriguing and complex plot I've ever seen. However, it fits perfectly with the movie. Think about movies such as Austin Powers. Do they ever have a plot? But the movie is great because it’s so funny that the plot doesn’t matter.


Comedy - I don’t want to give any of the jokes or funny scenes away, but I do want to let you know that this is the funniest movie I’ve ever seen. I personally think it’s Ben Stiller’s best movie ever, and is one of my all time top 5 movies.


This is a must see movie. Especially with all that’s going on in the world. With the attacks and now the bombings, it’s nice to be able to go to the theater and see something where you can just laugh and forget everything else for a while. So whatever your plans are for the rest of the day, incorporate Zoolander in them.


One final story that I hope will make you want to see this movie. I literally had to drag my mom into this movie. She is into new age movies with motivating stories, and wants nothing to do with action movies or movies that she thinks are going to be a waste of time. She wanted to stay home and read Oprah’s book of the month. She gave me the whole “This is going to be dumb”, “Why are you making me see this” sort of thing. And now two weeks later she is still doing Mugatu impressions. She loved it so much she said she’s going to buy it as soon as it comes out on video. So the bottom line is that if she loved it, you can’t go wrong with, ZOOLANDER!
