Ironically enough, the main thing that's come out of me watching this anime is a desire to see the 1927 original!! Apparently the restore job of this film is one of the best ever done.
It probably isn't too similar from what I've seen, no :-D

Somehow I keep seeing scenes from that Fritz Lang film flashing thru my eyes as I read about this film! I bet it isn't even similar, ay? ;oP
