Thank for the comment.
While I did like *some* of the effects, I felt they were way overused, and I think I said that.
Why does he feel the need to dazzle us with what he can do with CGI? Just because he can do something, doesn't mean he should.

Turnout (Reply to this comment)
by warmform
I went to a midnight showing on Wed night- it was sold out.
I noticed in your review you liked the very things I disliked most about this movie. Interesting. I remember seeing the premiere in 77 of the first Star Wars movie and was moved by purity of the picture. Now with the sixth release, the epic space saga has lost all of that purity along with much of its charm. I went back and watched the first movie again last night. It's STILL great..so it isn't me that has changed, its the saga. If this were any other franchise except STAR WARS, I think this movie would have killed it. The movie falls too much into the trap most movies do today (in order to appeal to kids)-- too much action/effects..not enough story. Style over substance. I hate that.

I didn't hit the midnight show, but I did see a few listings that were sold out.
However, the 10 AM show was pretty much empty. If the theater had 25 people in it, I think that was about it. And they were showing the film just about every hour on the hour.

Well, my husband wants to see it and so do 2 of the kids so we'll probably go back. I have to check for more of the little nuances that I missed.
Won't be like when Star Wars came out, though. I saw that 7 times.

Yeah, I think Jar- Jar is in all of two scenes.
Jar-Jar is sort of like Barney. He appealed to my (then) 4 year old but adults can't stand him.

What I wouldn't give to have 10am shows around here with my work schedule! I started writing immediately when I got home and I still am only halfway through, I think. I'm definitely going back again today to see it again.
Awesome job :)
