Pros: Easy to use. Give parents a tool to send to babysitter to facilitate learning.
I bought the product because when my son about 4 months old I began to show him his name located on the wall in his room. I would point to each letter then pronounce his name. When he turned about 7 months I would say this without standing in front of his name and he would look around the room to find his name. I remember how the Your Baby Can Read program worked and thought if this worked with his name I surely could see some results with this program so I decided to purchase it.
My son has been watching these videos for two months now. However, he also watches Baby Einstein. He is only 10 months and can say hi, dada, and he can sound out the letter b. I attribute it to both sets of DVDs. I especially attribute his clapping to the Your Baby Can Read.
It is my opinion that children under 2 will watch more than 30 minutes of TV anyway, unless you are their caregiver 24/7. This is a great tool to send to the babysitter. He really enjoys me reading the flash cards to him while we wait in places such as the doctor's office, airport, etc. Another great tool I ordered with this set are the recommended board books. They are great for a child his age because it allows the child to turn the page and because the pages are not easily torn when pulled he can interact.
Also this set allows old children to interact. My five year old niece enjoys reading the flash cards to him. I just wish the price for the entire set and books were more affordable, so parents that have less could purchase a set.
