Thanks macresarf - I agree with you about the stalker plot line. It's basically a device to frame the other story, so it's a tricky line between giving it too little and too much focus. They came up just a bit short, I would say.

Thanks for the comment!

Hey, Chad! Yeah, even though you totally scooped me, I finally got around to posting this! The final part didn't bother me overly much. I just saw it as 2 things, an attempt to wrap up an underdeveloped plot line (the stalker) and a very blatant (and pretty out there) statement on her newly found confidence in herself. I agree, it wasn't the best ending, but I liked it anyway.

And yeah, I would guess that you're about 10 years older than me ;)

Thanks for the nice comment!

I agree with Chad.

I liked the movie as much as you, especially the performances of Tunney and Nelson.

The problem with CHERISH is that it fails to establish and maintain its stalker theme with its other of personal growth.

Good work.

ah, so you finally got around to writing this up then?! welll, it was time well spent, as this is a great review. my only problem with it was that you didn't address the complete (to me anyway) tonal shift in the last act of the film...that really took something away from the movie in my mind; maybe you weren't bothered by it?

i do agree with you on the music though, even if said music makes me nostalgic for being a school kid rather than a college kid (we're, what, 10 years apart in age or so?)...i still thought there were some great choices used in the film.

oh and this line:

They are lonely people who fill their lives with images of what they believe would make them happy

that's a great one. encapsulates a good deal of the movie in just a few words.

good stuff!
