as soon as i heard the mondays 24 hour party people kick in during the opening credits i felt at home straight away. memories came flooding back with the appearence of another great song or character that i had forgotten about over the past few years. steve coogan (i'm not usually a fan) was good as wilson, although he had the voice perfect. the actors that played ian curtis and especially rob gretton were excellant, their mannerisms were exceptional. the cameos were a surprise and very welcome, mani being mani, howard devoto involved in an amusing scene and paul ryder showing signs of future success (maybe?) as a character actor with a part that he played threateningly. the only downside was seeing vini reilly looking so ill, although hopefully it will turn people onto his magical band the durutti column. this film will hopefully place people back into the spotlight who have been forgotten about over the past few years i.e martin hannett:the guvnor "play faster slower". overall a well made film that could have been weak due to most of the characters in the film still being amongst us, but it worked well enough. although why does keith allen have to turn up in all the better british films and try to ruin them?
