Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie''s plot.
This episode of VeggieTales is about on par with the normal episodes. Some may be disappointed that the normal Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber do not host the show, but it is kind of a nice change of pace to see Archibald the Asparagus host the show. Archibald tries to make the show more classy, which he does not all that successfully do. That is a good thing, though, because it would so not be an enjoyable VeggieTales if it ended up too classy and did not have some silliness to it, which is what makes VeggieTales so good.
This episode has two short story segments that teach about sharing. The first is called "Omelet," which is the script the French Peas produce when instead of Shakespeare's Hamlet, as Archibald planned to show. Omelet is about Prince Omelet played by Jimmy Gourd, learning to share his eggs with the kingdom when he realizes they are starving.
The second story is called "Lyle, the Kindly Viking." In this episode Lyle played by Junior Asparagus is different from the other Vikings in that he does not go on raids and instead he stays home and makes pot holders. He ends up teaching the other Vikings about sharing when it is discovered he takes his share of the loot back to the monks that the Vikings had taken it from. This episode includes a great VeggieTales song called "Share of Friends." It is one of the best non-silly VeggieTales songs.
As for the silly song in the episode, it is called Classy Songs with Larry. Archibald tries to even make this segment more classy, but do not worry silly song lovers because the song "High Silk Hat" does still manage to be a silly song, although not really among the best.
Overall the episode is a good one to teach kids about sharing with its entertaining VeggieTales stories. As a DVD, however, it is really disappointing because the only special features are a short interview with Phil and Tom, the Silly Song in widescreen, and a story reel of the "Share of Friends" song. This is likely because it is the first VeggieTales DVD release, however, if you watch after other VeggieTales DVDs like I did then you will find it disappointing because the other DVDs tend to have a lot of special features.
