Pros: Schneider actually pulls it off
Cons: He plays a teenage girl like a flamer
The Bottom Line: The Hot Chick is another mindless comedy from Sandler and Schneider, but it IS funny.

The Hot Chick is one of those kind of brainless comedies for people who like Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider movies. The film opens in ancient Egypt where a princess and a slave girl trade places uses a pair of magic earrings. It then jumps to present day and is set at a high school, where the most popular girl steals those earrings from an antique store. She loses one of the rings and it is found by Schneiders character, a loser street thug who robs convenience stores. When they both wake up the next morning, they look like each other.
The entire premise behind The Hot Chick is very bizarre and twisted, but it actually works well. Schneider is supposed to be playing a teenage female but he acts more like a flaming gay man. Nevertheless, the laughs are still there. If you liked him in movies like Deuce Bigalow or The Animal, then you will surely enjoy this film. If anything, it is worth watching just to see a dance sequence where he takes over the center of the floor. He is one fearless actor.
It is pretty hard to write an objective review about a movie like this, because the whole thing is so silly and absurd. I will say that as a whole, this is a very funny movie, although there are a few parts that drag on too long. Adam Sandler, who produced the film, has a small part but it is not at all funny. He is just there to help sell tickets.
Anna Faris, best known as the lead actress in the two Scary Movie spoofs, actually does a wonderful job here. She plays the somewhat serious character in the film, and I was impressed with her work. Rachel McAdams, who is the Hot Chick, only has a small part, since Schneider takes her place early on in the film.
As far as PG-13 rated comedies go, this is one of the better ones. It is not as silly as Dude, Wheres My Car and not as dirty as American Pie. It is the kind of comedy you see marketed at teenagers, which is why they put Adam Sandler in the preview. With all the other great films currently playing, Id suggest you wait and rent this one.
