Not recommended for people wanting to laugh.

Forgive me Adam … this movie wrenched my guts!
Adam Sandler is a riot—usually. He also does a fine job of jerking a sentimental tear or two for the
endearing characters he often plays (Big Daddy—Billy Madison—Mr. Deeds—Wedding Singer).
But this movie was not at all funny to me. It was agonizing. I felt very sorry for Sandler’s pathetic character—throughout. I like to laugh when I see a ‘COMEDY’ not wretch in sympathy for the actor and his character. My stomach was in knots watching Sandler’s character be constantly stepped on during this uncomfortable flick. And I actually shed a tear or two for Adam Sandler as an actor who made a waste of his extreme talent in this film. I truly hope he will go on to make more movies that are huge hits in the future—he has to—I can’t stand the pain! Don’t worry Adam—we all lay an egg once in a while.

Jeers to Nicholson! Why was he in this movie? Oh, I know, to give my TV Guardian a good workout … We have TVG (TV Guardian – foul language filter) feature on our TV/DVD/VCR and there was a LOT of censured dialog. I guess there was a lotta’ cussin’ goin’ on! But in all fairness, I guess he didn’t write the script. Definitely not recommended for folks who are sensitive to vulgarities. But after all, it was rated PG-13 for crude language … so that’s a chance you sometimes take—my bad.

I think Marisa Tomei is so special as Adam’s girlfriend—but where was she? Did all her shots end up being edited out, or what? I would have liked to see more of her character interacting with the male leads.
But this is primarily a guy movie.

If you want to enjoy this movie:
1. Watch the previews (they are deceptively GREAT)
2. Take it out of the DVD player
3. Put in my favorite movie … ‘Big Daddy’
4. Then pretend ‘Anger Management’ never happened!
