Well, you know I do, but it's not because you met Patrick Stewart. You met him before that anyway. He's my grandfather! ;)

Gambit, aka Remy LeBeau, is a mutant that uses kinetic energy. His trademark? He has a deck of playing cards that he can light up with energy and throw at people causing big pretty pink blasts of energy.
And his red and black eyes are hot. As is his accent. Ahhh.... New Orleans..

These are two fine actors who work hard to hone their craft for your enjoyment, and all you can do is debase their accomplishments by reducing them to a level slightly higher a piece of meat in order to satisfy your twisted, sexual fantasies.
Who said our fantasies are twisted? ;)
I'm jealous. Do me next?
Even though I'm sober now, I still can't quite figure out this part of the comment. You want me to reduced you to a piece of meat? OK, Jay, you are... [waving my magic wand] a slab of bacon!

Thanks for the historical perspective.
Therefore, Westchester County DID count as "upstate New York" in those days.
It still counts as "upstate" for people who live in Manhattan, but some people who live in Westchester are kind of touchy about that classification.
Cheers,

Asterisk One (Reply to this comment)
by thewasp
Stan Lee began writing the X-Men in 1962. In those days, most people who worked in New York City could still afford to LIVE in the city. Hardly anybody was willing to commute 50 miles each way 5 days a week. Therefore, Westchester County DID count as "upstate New York" in those days. I grant you that Marvel has failed to update their description of Westchester County. (If they did, the X-Men would have to have President Clinton over for barbeque once a year, surrounded by some very uncomfortable-looking Secret Servicemen.) This is not quite as silly as the Defense Department insisting the Persian Gulf is actually the Arabian Gulf and other failures-to-update or improper updates of geography.

Dis,
Wolverine's pointy locks and hirsute torso pale in comparison with Iceman's lean, lithe teen bod, I'm afraid.
So, you're a cradle robber, are ya? Well, I like the older men. Works out perfectly for both of us in this case.

Becky,
I think that she still loves Wolverine romantically. He is so much hotter than Iceman, you must admit.
I will admit no such thing. Wolverine's pointy locks and hirsute torso pale in comparison with Iceman's lean, lithe teen bod, I'm afraid.
Actually, this works out well. You can have Wolverine, and I'll take Bobby Drake. And when I say "take," I mean take. Grrrowl!

Do you think that Rogue is still romantically interested in Wolverine?
Yes, I do. I had this argument with a friend of mine who agrees with you that Rogue and Wolverine have more of a sibling relationship at this point. I think that she still loves Wolverine romantically. He is so much hotter than Iceman, you must admit. But this could all definitely be just projection on my part since I would go for Wolverine over Iceman because he's older and more manly. "Cutie patootie," yes, but not hot and sexy like Wolverine.
Still swooning,

Hi Mike,
I am not an evangelical X-Men fan or anything. In fact, I was practically dragged to go see this one by some friends. I only saw the first one in preparation for the sequel.
X1 bored me silly; you think I'm going to make that mistake again?
This one is about a half hour longer, so I would advise you to stay away.
XOXO, right back atcha,

The Iceman cometh (but not with Rogue) (Reply to this comment)

Becky,
I, too, was glad to see that Storm wasn't quite as useless in this one as in the first movie. She's still pretty weak, though.
Do you think that Rogue is still romantically interested in Wolverine? I felt that, by the end of "X-Men," it had evolved from nascent sexual interest (on her part) into a harmless sort of big-bro-li'l-sis relationship. After all, she does have Bobby Drake now, and he's a cutie patootie...
Great review!

Beck-
The darned thing has only been out in theatres ("out in"? Pardon the pun
) for 2 days, and already I'm sick of reading reviews on the X-Men.
Thankfully, X-Becky comes to save the day, waving her Boston charm all over the film, in a glorious -- if ultimately futile -- attempt to get me to see the darned thing. X1 bored me silly; you think I'm going to make that mistake again?
Great write-up

They need to get Gambit in the movies, darnit!
I'm not familiar with that character. What is his/her power?
So Storm is still as pathetic as she was in the first movie? Boo...
Well, she does a bit more in this film than the last, but not as much as she does in the comics, I'm told.

you could put Hugh Jackman in curlers and a lunch lady hairnet and he'd still rock, as, of course, does this review. Like you, I appreciated the backstory in the first film and will gladly jump right into this one. When it comes out on DVD, of course - I've seen one movie in a theater this year, already one over my quota.
Like you, I have always felt that the Bottom Line absolutely sizzles.
