Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie''s plot.
Joe Gavilan (Harrison Ford) and K.C. Calden (Josh Harnett) aren't your typical homicide cops; Joe moonlights as a real estate agent and K.C. is a yoga instructor. When a rap group is murdered, they get serious in trying to solve the crime. On top of all that, a fellow cop (Bruce Greenwood) is trying to get Gavilan kicked off the force for personal reasons.
This one is worthy of some real laughs but it is a disappointment as well. Hartnett seemed to walk through the role and Ford didn't really seem in his element (although he did have a splendid love scene). Lena Olin stole every scene as Ruby, Gavilan's love interest. Dwight Yoakam plays a crooked cop and as always when playing a bad guy Yoakam does it right. He just isn't in the movie enough.
I think they tried to do a crime movie with laughs, which is fine by me; it wasnt executed very well. They could have done without the sub-plot of Greenwood's character and concentrated more on the real crime, which was solved for the audience way too soon.
I would probably watch it again if I ran across it while flipping channels but I'm not going to go out of my way for it.
