crimsonbeast's Full Review: Family Guy - Volume 2: Season 3
Family guy is one of the best shows to ever be aired and one of the funniest. I find it soo much funnier than Simpsons and Futurama put together. The funny antics of Peter Griffin and his dysfunctional family cannot be beaten or matched. Family Guy will never get old, you could hear that same old joke or comment and still pee your pants laughing. I got all the episodes for Christmas a while back and I'm still watching them to this day. Enough about how funny it is, just see for yourself.
Characters
There are six essential characters Peter Griffin, Lois Griffin, Chris, Meg, Stewie, and Brain (A talking dog) and they all live in Quahog. Each family member is funny in his or her own way, slipping in a joke or just acting like an idiot. There are many, many other characters that live in the town like Peter's friends, Mayor Adam West and other special guest stars.
Peter Griffin
Peter Griffin is the standard moronic, fat father that couldn't raise a weed let alone his own kids, but being dumb is what makes him so funny. He will either wake up on the kitchen table after getting drunk at a party or fart infront of hundreds of people, anything to please his audience. Peter has to be the highlight of the show. the voice acting of Peter is done by the founder and original creator of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane. Seth does most of the voices you hear on family guy. I've heard that Seth was meant to go on one of the planes that hit the twin tower in 9/11 but never did.
Lois Griffin
Lois is the mom that has to suffer through her marriage with Peter. Her maiden name is Pudershmit or something like that, and Peter once accidentally called her a piece of shiz. She is the only one that disciplines the kids, and is not that funny, but she does have her moments. Lois is the mother of three children Chris, Meg, And Stewie. Lois' parents hate Peter and would do anything in order to separate them. Alex Borstein does the voice of Lois
Chris Griffin
Chris is a troubled young teenager. He is obsessed with the word "Poo", he says it when ever possible. He takes after his father Peter, being fat and stupid. Chris is the only character that can get into a fight with a lamp and loss. Chris becomes very consciences about his weight but doesn't really accomplish anything about it. Chris was born as an elephant baby, and was almost the size of Lois when first escaping the womb. Chris' voice is brought to you by Seth Green, even though at least two times as old as the 13 year old Chris, does his voice very well.
Meg Griffin
Meg is the very unpopular and less attractive sister, that like her mother, is not as funny as Chris or Peter. She likes the guy next-door but is to shy to talk to him, and she has a nerd following her around continuously asking for a date but he never get one. I guess beggers CAN be choosers. Mila Kunis supplies her voice for the role of Meg Griffin, and it is quite obvious. She doesn't change it or alter her voice in anyway like the other characters.
Stewie Griffin
Stewie is a genius baby, bent on world domination. He also would like to see Lois pushing up daisies, if you know what I mean. Stewie has a football shaped head but it wasn't always like that. In one episode it shows Stewie jumping on the bed (he had a normal shaped head) hitting the ceiling and his head was hence forth shaped like a football. Again Seth MacFarlane does the voice of this character.
Brian Griffin
Brian is the household dog. Him and Stewie become stronger friends after they get their tickets stolen at an airport and they must find a way back to Quahog together. Brian listens to classical and is one of the smarter members of the family. Even though Brian is a talking dog no one seams to question it. If you haven't guessed yet, Seth MacFarlane does the voice of Brain
Extras
There are alot of characters that are important but not enough for a whole paragraph on them so, Mayor Adam West (Just Like Bat Man) is marries to his right hand, Cleavland, Joe, and Quagmire; Peter's friends, Death, Peter's boss and special appearances from people like Bill Gates and Martha Stuart. That's all the main characters but there are alot of extra little ones like the other characters families and stuff.
The DVDs
There are 21 episodes plus a never aired episode called "When You Wish Upon A Weinstein" which was considered to "bad" to air. So there are 22 episodes total. Three discs full of never ending laughs and I can't think of any other way to spend a few hours on a boring Saturday night to spend you time. Its around $50 but definitely worth the money. I also recommend the first two seasons, which I also own.

The Thin White Line
After becoming addicted to cocaine while working as a drug-sniffing police dog, Brian goes to rehab only to find Peter, faking an addiction, is his roommate.
Brian Does Hollywood
Brian moves to Los Angeles to write screenplays but only find work directing pornos, while Stewie's twisted rants on "Kids Say The Darndest Things" are thwarted by host Bill Cosby.
Mr.Griffin Goes To Washington
When Happy-Go-Lucky Toys is bought out by a tobacco conglomerate, Peter is made president and sent to Washington to lobby on behalf of the cigarette peddlers
One If By Clam, Two If By Sea
Peter and his friends are arrested for allegedly burning down their favorite bar after it's transformed into a British pub; meanwhile Stewie tries to remove the neighbor baby's Cockney accent.
And The Wiener Is
Peter becomes competitive with Chris when he discovers that his son has a bigger wang, as Meg unsuccessfully tries to fit in with the crowd at school and is pelted with rancid meat.
Death Lives
After being struck by lighting while playing golf on his wedding anniversary, Peter pleads with death to give him another chance to make it up to Lois, with a little help from Peter Frampton.
Lethal Weapons
Although her newly discovered Tae-Jitsu abilities are handy in dealing with obnoxious New York tourists, Lois fears her own rage and enters the family into anger management therapy, which angers everyone.
The Kiss Seen Round The World
Meg leaps at an opportunity to intern at the local news station in order to be closer to her crush, news anchor Tom Tucker, only to discover that Neil, who has a crush on her, will also intern there.

After Peter's boss chokes to death at the Griffin home, the toy factory is sold and Peter is forced to take a job jousting at the local Renaissance Faire
A Fish Out Of Water
Peter puts his family's house in jeopardy with a $50,000 loan for a fishing boat. Meanwhile Lois teaches Meg how to behave like a tramp during spring break.
Emission Impossible
When Lois and Peter decide to have another baby, Stewie hops aboard a microscopic spacecraft and enters Peter's body in an attempt to terminate his sperm.

After Chris identifies an armed robber who's now bent on revenge, the Griffin enter the witness protection program in a small southern town, where Peter becomes sheriff.

Peter's jealousy lands him a separation from Lois and a date with Gwyneth Paltrow, whom he thoroughly disgusts, while Brian and Stewie get glued together for a week.
Road To Europe
Hoping to join a wholesome TV show family he thinks is real, Stewie hot air balloons to England, while Peter is proud to learn that Lois was once a groupie known as "Loose Lois" to the legendary rock group KISS.

Viewer Mail inspires three irrelevant tales in which Peter becomes a boneless blob, the Griffins develop superhuman abilities and young Peter and Lois live in a warped

When You Wish Upon A Weinstein (Never Aired)
In this controversial unaired episode, an impressive Jewish friend of Peter's, Mr. Weinstein, prompt Peter into encouraging Chris to become Jewish se he'll become successful, too.
Dvd Special Features
Not only does the show rock but the DVDs have bonus features like Commentaries on selected episodes by Seth MacFarlane, producers, directors, writes and other cast members. There are 28 deleted scenes, the never before aired episode, the original series pitch that got the show going, and 2 new featurettes; "Uncensored" and "Series Overview". Also there are three different languages; English, Spanish and French, two in Dolby Surround Sound and the French is in Stereo. There are also subtitles for each language.
Comments
There is so much on these three discs, including commentaires and like 22 episodes. I don't know what I would do without Family Guy. I know there would be less laughter in the world, or at least in my world. Great to play a few episodes when you have a few friends over. I wouldn't trust anyone with my Family Guy DVDs, everyone wants one, and some may resort to stealing. (^_^)
Rating
On the discs it says that the commentaries are rated R for language and stuff. Also there is quite a bit of swearing going on. If I had a kid I wouldn't want them to watch it, imitate it, then go around calling people fat a$$, and bastard. Plus the shows are very controversial, well only some. I would only recommend this Dvd to those who are at least over 14, because kids shouldn't pick up swearing from a TV show, infact they shouldn't swear at all.
Visuals
When compared to the Simpsons I would have to say that Family guy wins visually. For one thing if you have ever watched Family Guy then the falling is much faster, like peter will fall through a table in a blink of an eye, and you'll be laughing before your brain even renders what just happened. The movement is very smooth and the characters are pretty well done.
Sounds
The voices are great. The sounds of smashing walls when peter drives trough them, The hilariouse laugh of Peter, and Quagmire going heh, heh, all right, are all amazing and the voice acting is superb. Seth MacFarlane does the voices of like 8 characters on the show, ranger from Peter to Brian to Tom Tucker. The music is also good, like the time Peter wished for his own theme music, it was so cool.
Family Guy - The Movie
I have heard that there will be a family Guy movie coming out sometime either in late 2004 or early 2005. I would definitely give the movie a try. I think there is something about Stewie thinking he is gay and stuff like that. It may be a typical Family Guy episode, just stretched out over 2 hours.

Overall
If your a fan of Family Guy then this DVD set is a must have. Not only for the episodes but also for the commentaries and special features. You can spend hours just watching Family Guy episodes. You can watch the whole disc or just pick your favorite episode and hit play. If you don't feel like buying the DVDs or you have never seen Family Guy before, then at least check out the show when ever you can. It's better then most of the stuff you see on TV, a very unique show with a very unique cast. It's just too funny for words.
