Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot.

Not long ago I spotted the Alan Jackson Greatest Hits II DVD and quickly bought it. Alan Jackson has always been one of my favorites and I wanted this for my music DVD collection. Alan is not only a great singer, but he is also a very talented songwriter as well. This video includes six of Alan’s videos. It was released on February 10, 2004.

Videos Included:

Remember When is a beautiful song about someone looking back at different points of their life. It is about someone reminiscing about their younger days. The video has lots of close up shots of Alan. This is somewhat a sad song to me when you think of those who aren’t here now and how time changes things. There are also some great clips of Alan with his wife, Denise. She gazes into his eyes and he tenderly kisses her lips. They look so much in love as they dance together. There are also the sweetest clips of children playing outside. The video ends with Alan and Denise in a boat together.

Who’s Cheatin’ Who is a fun video that Alan did with a little bit of help from some NASCAR friends. Much of this is filmed at the racetrack. You will be able to spot such familiar faces as Rusty Wallace, Dale Jarrett, Kyle Petty, Mark Martin and other race car drivers. There is a shot of Alan driving a Ford truck around the track. There are also various scenes of all the guys playing cards together. They are sitting around having lots of fun. Alan then is shown taking off in a racen truck and coming back in a big monster truck.

”But still you wonder
Who's cheatin' who, who's being true
Who don't even care anymore
It makes you wonder
Who's doing right with someone tonight
And who's car is parked next door”

Little Man begins with Alan sharing how he got into his car one day and just started driving. He went through so many little towns where there was nothing much left. He thought about how sad it was because so much had changed. So many “mom & pop” stores have closed because “big business” has taken over. He wanted to do a video to re-capture some of what he saw as he drove through the towns. This is a tribute to the “little man”. The video is shot in black and white. There are various clips shown. There are many old stores with for sale signs in the windows. Some stores are boarded up. There are pictures of lots of different people from these small towns. They all have such a sad look on their face. I love the violin in this song. It adds to the somber feeling.

”I go back now and the stores are all empty
Except for an old coke sign from 1950
Boarded up like they never existed
Or renovated and called historic districts
There goes the little man
There goes the little man”

Pop a Top is a fun song with a fun video. Cledus T. Judd helps Alan out with the video. The video starts with Cledus getting a beer from the refrigerator. It then goes to Alan singing in a club. There are clips of Cledus mingling in the crowds. People are having fun and playing games. Cledus is just fixing to kiss a beautiful girl when he wakes up from his dream. He is upset and heads back to the refrigerator for more beer.

”Pop a top again
I think I’ll have another round
Set 'em up my friend
Then I'll be gone
And you can let some other fool sit down”

www.memory was filmed in downtown Nashville. It was cool for me to see familiar streets. There is a woman driving down Church Street. Everywhere she looks she sees Alan’s face. He is on a park bench, on the side of a truck, on a billboard and on the water tower. She parks her car and heads for the bar. Just as she orders a shot she sees him on the TV. She moves to a table where she opens her laptop. There he is again. She clicks on him and he magically appears. Her arrives with a dozen roses. Aaahhh, girls wouldn’t that be nice to have Alan appear with roses?

”At www.memory
I'll be waiting for you patiently
If you feel the need, just click on me
At www.memory
If you feel like love, just click on me
At www.memory”

Drive (For Daddy Gene) is a song that Alan wrote based on memories of his Daddy. Some kids pull a book called “Drive” from the shelf and open it to different scenes. There is a picture of a little boy with his dad out in a boat. There is also clips of the boy with his dad driving an old truck. Then there are clips of Alan with his 3 daughters as the girls take turns driving his old Jeep. The scenery in the video is gorgeous. At the end it said “In Loving Memory of Joseph Eugene Jackson (Daddy Gene) 1927-2000.

”It was just an old hand-me-down Ford
With a three-speed on the column and a dent in the door
A young boy two hands on the wheel
I can't replace the way it made me feel
And I would press the clutch
And I would keep it right
And he'd say, "a little slower son you're doing just fine"
Just a dirt road with trash on each side
But I was Mario Andretti
When daddy let me drive”

Final Thoughts:

I have really enjoyed this DVD. My 9 year old son, Aaron, really loves to watch it. I can never watch Alan too much. Ladies, I'm sure you know what I mean. This collection has a nice variety of serious videos and fun ones as well. There are sentimental ones here, things that are close to Alan’s heart. He lets us have a peek inside and we get to know him a little better.

There are no special features, extras or interviews. I, of course, would have liked to have more of Alan, but I can’t complain. For six bucks I got six videos. So for just a dollar a video that I can watch anytime I want I think it is a pretty good deal.
