I first saw an episode of this show while channel surfing and stopping on BBC America. I've always been a fan of British comedy, and this show didn't let me down. So, I went out and bought the second season DVD (the first season was sold out, which might speak for the quality of that season!).

I admit, at first I was just slightly shocked at the blatantly sexual topics, but the shock soon subsided as I realized that the comedy was unlike any American sitcom - much like the American spinoff "Friends," only more clever. The fact that the British lack the censorship present on American TV brings a real sense to it. If you've never watched British sitcoms, this is a good place to start.

Like their American counterpart Friends, the show focuses on a group of friends and the mishaps that happen in their everyday life. The central meeting place for the group is a little bar, and without fail, the location is in each episode at least twice.

Overall, the smart comedy, combined with mishaps and just that undefinable "X factor" not present in American shows, makes Coupling a great investment for any comedy lover.
